Messi commends Ronaldo and comments on Portugal qualified for the World Cup


Lionel Messi Praised for good performance provided by Cristiano Ronaldo, one of his rivals to win the Ballon d'Or, he said that he is glad "extremely" Portugal's qualification to the World Cup in Brazil in 2014.

Barcelona star said in an interview published in German Journal (kicker) yesterday, when asked about his opinion on the first qualifying Portugal on Tuesday, thanks to three goals, "hat-trick" goal scored by Ronaldo in Sweden: "I was very happy for him."
Barcelona striker said, speaking of the biggest rival Real Madrid "It's great to be the best teams present in Brazil. Cristiano has for years an excellent scoring rate. He plays superb level."

Ronaldo and Messi are the strongest candidates for the Golden Ball award from the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA), along with Franck Ribery of Bayern Munich.
The brilliance of the Portuguese in the European Supplement to Sweden causes an increase in the chance to vote. Cristiano has also scored the goal of the first leg only.

In the interview, which was conducted yesterday during a ceremony in which Messi won the Golden Boot award as the best scorer in Europe for the 2012-2013 season for the third time in his career, Argentine striker returned to confirm that the dream of winning the World Cup with Argentina represents important than any individual accomplishment.
He explained, "I am happy with my awards. But surely, winning with the World Cup is simply a dream, for me and my colleagues and the whole of Argentina."

Messi stressed that the tango team -led by Alejandro Sabella, "goes on in a good way" towards the World Cup, adding, "it still remain to us some things to improve, but there are seven months until the tournament."
