Messi Contributed to charity works in support of Colombia
and Syria children, and to stop the violence in Peru
Raquel Fernandez Said, director of communications at UNICEF
Spain, that the organization received for donations of $ (300 thousand dollars)
from the Messi Foundation which is about three grants worth every single of
100.000 dollars for participating in friendlies last summer in Peru, Colombia
and the United States.
Fernandez said to the Spanish newspaper "El Mundo
Deportivo": "In the past three years, Messi corporate with UNICEF to
participate in the many events and activities of the UNICEF, and not only
through advertising campaigns or general mobilization, but he has visited
several countries in order to contribute to charitable activities of the
organization" .
Fernandez explained that "it has been donating money
and we have checks in the sums of money which three donations in three
different offices and is designed to support programs for children in Colombia;
programs for the prevention of violence in Peru, and to provide assistance to
children affected by the situation in Syria."
The director of communications for UNICEF mentioned that the
player Lionel Messi is the ambassador of UNICEF since 2010 and during this time
was very helpful with the organization and contributed by a large margin in
charity work also he had a leading role in the promotion of business and other
organizations to donate to UNICEF.
It is noteworthy that Messi and his father exposed to a
smear campaign and charges of laundering drug money in three friendly matches
of the UNICEF, which led to an investigation into the charges before being
acquitted of Messi and his father recently.
