Messi decides to pay 33 million euros to the IRS



The newspaper "Marca" revealed that Barcelona star Leo Messi decided to settle his status with the Spanish IRS by paying a fine of around 32.9 million euros after the IRS filed a complaint in June 2013 on charges of tax fraud on an estimated four million euros between 2007 and 2009 .

The reason for this complaint of irregularities in deductions for right of player ads, with this situation Argentine star decided to pay 25 million euros and an agreement was reached between Messi and the tax authorities also provides for the payment of this amount during the next five years.

Even now Messi does not have to pay anything, but it is expected to be the first payment  after the summer and the other during the year 2018. 

On the other hand, Messi will pay a fine resulting from tax evasion to the amount of 4.1 million euros, according to the agreement reached by the player with the IRS, the penalty they had imposed upon an estimated 65% of the amount (4.1 million euros), that is, it will be forced to pay $ 2.7 million euros thus, the total is 32.9 million euros.

A few days ago the judge decided to designate in this case acquitting Messi of this tax fraud, saying that Barcelona star has no knowledge of tax matters. For this reason, will not bear any criminal responsibility in the case but only an economic and thus pay around 33 million euros.
