For the Argentine Messi, Russell considered "the best player in history", and did not have in any doubt that he deserves the Golden Ball for the fifth year in a row.

In this regard, he said, "if it relates to the evaluation of performance in the last season, Messi was the best, won another four copies, and continues to defend his position, people just want a change, this is the nature of human beings, but I think that Messi would get the award again."
Asked about former coach Pep Guardiola, who attacked him earlier this season, he replied, "he remains the best coach in the history of the club, I think it is impossible to outperform the results of someone else."
With regard to refuse to renew the contract, the French player Eric Abidal after recovering from liver cancer, Rosell commented "After that he has recovered we dealt with him as a player, the decision not to renew him was professionally and technically."
And Rosell remembers the cruel defeat against Bayern Munich in the semi-final of the Champions League last season, saying, "You can not win consistently, as they scored three illegal goals, and Messi was absent."
